The Federal TRIO Programs (TRIO) are Federal outreach and student services programs designed to identify and provide services for individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds. TRIO includes eight programs targeted to serve and assist low-income individuals, first-generation college students, and individuals with disabilities to progress through the academic pipeline from middle school to postbaccalaureate programs. This is a four-panel brochure that introduces people to the program and I determined that the key things people would want to know is “Do I qualify?” “What is TRIO” and “How can this program help me?” and wrote the copy accordingly. I deliberately stayed away from images with people because I wanted the viewer to imagine themselves in higher education. In addition. the brochure also has a Spanish translation on the back to reach the Latino population in underserved areas in Chicago.
